Today marks the official launch of LIVE THE GAME, my new spec spot for everyone’s favorite game of military strategery – Milton Bradley’s ‘Battleship.’ Filmed in February on an Oval Office set filled with more lighting firepower than a thousand raging suns, the spot stars Michael Walker, Jeff Vernon and Bill Eldrich as three generals with their fingers on the button, Sean Dryke as a secret service agent with nothing to lose and Curt Roland as a president who lays it all on the line, risking his family, his job…even his mortal soul. Or something. It’s all about subtext, right?
Huge thanks go out to über-producer Christina Ferguson for her superhuman ability to make it all look easy, Jason Cochard for creating camera moves that not only tell a story but also earn themselves a nifty “swoosh” sound in post, Matthew Gilna for editing shears as sharp as his wit, Bear McCreary for fitting a 30-second symphony into a schedule that already denies him meals and sleep, Mike Frederick for manning the sound board and seeing patterns where others see none, Phil Broste for visual effects mastery that kept us on message, everyone who helped out with the production, and you for somehow making it through the longest paragraph of all time.
