Although the titular character of THE WATERHORSE can’t boast the ear-gills, parasites and insatiable appetite of its CLOVERFIELD counterpart, it does manage a rare one-upmanship of its carnivorous cousin in the marketing department – no small feat given that the teaser campaign for J.J. Abrams’ brainchild managed to get some people very excited. My jaw literally dropped when I saw the above footage of WATERHORSE’s Japanese campaign, which uses a projector, timed fountains and a water vapor screen to – at last – bring a giant monster to the streets of Tokyo. No word yet on when this technology will be available for home use, but you have to admit – it would make for a pretty fun bath toy.
