According to my driver’s license, my girlfriend, the majority of my family members and the cake that showed up in the office kitchen, I am – officially – another year older. And while being 28 means I’m technically still allowed to say I’m mid-20’s (21 through 29 are in the middle of 20 and 30, right?), I’ll go ahead and acknowledge that, dear reader, your little boy is growing into a man.
The universe at large, however, seems to be having difficulty reconciling this fact. Ever since I graduated and started working in the “real world”, every movie I’ve crewed on has been about a subject dear to me about two decades ago. Back then, lunch breaks at my elementary school were spent reading about the Universal monsters, all of whom I’ve worked with thanks to VAN HELSING and THE MUMMY (alright, technically the Invisible Man wasn’t in either movie…or was he?) And now that I’m back from abroad, we’re deep in pre-production on another childhood passion: G.I. JOE.
Now don’t get me wrong – I’m quite happy spending my days with movie monsters and living action figures, and much prefer that to the prospect of watching seconds tick by on the set of some impenetrable art flick. I just think it’s interesting that the universe seems to agree. Anywise, in hopes of proving that I’m not a complete man-child, I present to you this site’s rating on The Blog Readability Test – a gauge of what level of education a reader has to possess in order to fully appreciate what they’re reading. And the survey says…POSTGRAD READER!
Go ahead and pat yourself on the back, you postgrad reader! Them’s booksmarts at work. I’m actually kind of thrilled to get this ranking, since I think the rocket ship on the graphic is pretty keen. While admitting that probably goes against the site’s new intellectual pedigree, I think I should get a pass. After all – it’s my birthday.
